According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB):
Even when children are buckled up, using the wrong type of restraint or transiting too early can significantly increase the risk of serious injury.

The right seat, used correctly on every trip, saves lives.
Many children are buckled in, but not correctly. Common concerns include:
Most children don't fit in adult seat belts until they are 4'9" tall, usually between ages 8 and 12.
A child should pass all five steps of the Safety Belt Fit Test for Big Kids (Safe Kids Worldwide):
Remember to keep kids in the back seat until they are 13 years old.
